Ofill Echevarría was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1972 and made his debut as a member of the Arte Calle (Street Art) Group in 1988, before graduating from the legendary San Alejandro Academy, in 1991. The following year he moved to Mexico, where he lived until 2002. He currently lives and works in New York.


Since his first solo show in Havana, Plastic Industry (1991), Ofill has exhibited individually in that city and in galleries and institutions of Mexico and the Caribbean, and in Lima, Peru. He has exhibited at the Feinstein Gallery Providence Campus of The University of Rhode Island, and at the Multicultural Center of the URI, Kingston.


Represented by the renowned gallery Praxis Mexico, which later became Ginocchio Gallery, both in Mexico City, Ofill has participated in many international exhibitions since 2001, including Art Chicago, Art Miami, Arteamérica, Artbo, Maco Mexico, Monterrey Zona Maco, Scope Miami, Art Basel Miami Beach, New York Pinta.


His works are part of major public and private collections, among these the Center of Development of Visual Arts in Havana; Museum of Fine Arts in Havana; Museum of Modern Art in Mexico; Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca, Mexico; Center for the Arts, Pinakothek, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; Merrill Lynch Foundation for the Arts, Miami; Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach, California; Multicultural Center of The University of Rhode Island, Kingston.


EL MUNDO DE LOS VIVOS | THE REAL WORLD (Un-Gyve Press, Boston) debuts in New York at the Carriage House Center for the Arts after an unveiling in Mexico City coinciding with Ofill's MOMENTUM at Ginocchio Gallery.


Besides his artistic achievements in painting, and work in other areas such as engraving, Ofill is accomplished in digital art and photography,  and independent production for the World Wide Web.   [CV DOWNLOAD]
